What is Heritage Leiden?
It is the regional heritage institute for Leiden and its surrounding area. We hold archives, audiovisual and archeological collections. We give advise on every aspect of built heritage and archaeology. Everybody can discover their heritage through our reading room, educational programmes and websites. We believe the best way to discover your past is through an interdisciplinary approach. At Heritage Leiden experts from different fields work together: archivists, building and architecture historians and archeologists. Windmill museum De Valk is part of Heritage Leiden.

Book a guided tour or talk on the Pilgrims in Leiden or visit the archive and see your ancestor’s document in person. And get a special custom Commemoration Selfie with your ancestor’s document to remember your ancestor and visit.

Are the visits and tours accessible for people with mobility issues?
We are accessible for wheelchair users. Windmill De Valk is not accessible for people who have difficulty climbing stairs, due to the character of the building.

Molen de Valk (The Falcon) is a tower mill dating from 1743 and part of Heritage Leiden. It has been completely restored: visitors are shown how the miller and his family used to live and work.
